Start With Photos
Clear photos from several angles often communicate volume better than a vague description. Include a familiar object for scale when useful and show whether items are stacked tightly or spread across a room.
List Large Items
List sofas, mattresses, appliances, cabinets, tables, exercise equipment, and other bulky pieces separately. Large items can affect both vehicle space and the labor required.
Estimate the Pile
For loose material, estimate length, width, and average height of the pile. You do not need engineering precision; the goal is to give the provider a realistic sense of scale.
Separate Dense Material
Call out concrete, dirt, tile, roofing, books, metal, and other dense material. A small dense pile can weigh more than a much larger pile of light household goods.
Describe Access
Mention floors, stairs, elevators, gates, parking distance, narrow hallways, and whether items are already outside. Loading conditions can matter almost as much as volume.
Expect the Estimate to Change if the Load Changes
A photo estimate depends on the information provided. If the pile grows, hidden dense material appears, or access is different from what was described, the final scope may change. Confirm the price or pricing method before loading begins.
